This summer, one of our main focuses at Localify has been building out personalized artist recommendations for community music festivals. With dozens of performers across multiple stages, these festivals can be overwhelming — especially when you don’t recognize many of the names in the lineup.
Our goal is to help festival-goers — especially first-timers — discover a few relevant festival artists by connecting them to musicians they already know and enjoy. Then, at the festival, the festival-goer will be familiar with some of the music and know who to check out.
This idea was suggested to us by Dave Santucci from Mission2Market who was working on the FOCOMx festival in Fort Collins, Colorado. Paul Gagliano hacked together a prototype that helped us explore whether this would be a useful local music fans. We realized that community music festivals are a great place to discover local artists and learn about the local music scene. As a result, we decide to implement artist festival recommendation as part of our main services alongside local artist and local event recommendation.
We finished the build for this new feature in early July and are rolling it out for the Grassroots Festival of Music and Dance this week (July 17-20, 2025) in Trumansburg, NY. If you are headed to GrassRoots, you can try out our new artist recommendation feature here:
