Localify 2.0

A new version of Localify.org will launch in September 2024.

We want to create a service that helps potential fans discover talented artists who live and perform within their communities. We also want to help potential concert-goers find live music events at small venues close to home.

This completely new and much improved second version of Localify has been updated in a number of ways:

  1. Improved User Experience: redesigned React frontend based on lots of early-and-often suer feedback.
  2. Robust Backend: new Spring Boot (Java) backend and API to support faster and more extensible development of future features.
  3. More Data: Larger set of constantly active web scrapers to collect artist and events information
  4. Better Recommendation: Improved MLOpps to facilitate more regular model training and faster music recommedation

How you can help

Our mission to to grow local music scenes by getting more fans to support more local artists. If you share this goal, we could use your help:

  1. Use Localify and let us know what you think: Localify is still an “early stage” academic project so you feedback can have big impact on what we work on next. Please email us at support@localify.org with your feedback. Also, let us know if we could chat more with you about user experience.
  2. Let your friends and fellow music fans & artists know about Localify: as an “not-for-money” community-based project, we rely on word-of-mouth to get the word out about localify.org
  3. Go See Live Music: the pandemic a few years ago wrecked local music scenes. The only way to rebuild it is go see music and support your local artists.

Support local music! That’s it.
